Public Works Duties

• Servicing Equipment - performing repairs on the vehicles in Santran's fleet.

• Operating Equipment -  operating the various equipment owned by Santrans to perform the needed tasks at hand.

• Roadside Maintenance - performing repairs as needed to the streets and highways that Santrans operates.

• Litter Pickup - picking up litter along the highways.

• Traffic Control - directing traffic for shutdowns and other blockages by the use of a flagger & other related duties.

• Inspections - perform inspections of the roads, highways, bridges, and overpasses to make sure they are still safe to use.

• Snow Plowing - It is the responsibility of Santrans to make sure the roads are clear of snow.

• Monitor Pump Plants - ensure that the pump plants and reservoirs are in proper working order.

• Perform Inspections - ensure that the reservoirs, debris basins, dam walls, drainage ditches, and walkways are in working order and free of any damage that would hinder operations or put the public at risk. 

• Inspect Department Facilities - perform inspections on LSDWP facilities and property gates to ensure that they are locked and in working order.

• Equipment Transport - transport equipment such as compressors, generators, portable pumps, boats, or portable toilets to vehicles such as trailers, cars, and/or trucks in order to transport them to and from reservoirs and facilities.

• Perform Minor Maintenance - clean graffiti off of equipment, buildings, and electrical cabinets/water reservoirs. Replacing the air filters in the air handling system, repairing water control lines/pipes, and repairing leaks/cracks at the control plants.

• Perform Major Repairs - repair downed power lines, traffic lights, sewer lines, water pipelines, and street lights.

• Servicing Sewers - maintain and repair sewer lines.

• Homeless Camp Cleanup - Clean up homeless camps on the beaches within Vespucci. 

• Trash Pickup - collect the trash in the cans and dumpsters marked for the Los Santos Department of Sanitation.

• Litter Pickup - pick up any litter along the walkways and roadways.

• Waste Collection - manage waste such as trash at the landfills owned by the department.

• Inspections - service and repair any broken dumpsters and trash cans seen along your route.

• Maintenance - service and maintain any LSDS facility to ensure that it is operating safely without any risk of things breaking.

• Road Work - Maintain and repair all of the roads within Blaine County.

• Traffic Control - directing traffic for closed roadways by the usage of signs and flaggers.

• Water & Sanitation Maintenance - maintain the water and sewage pipelines.

• Power & Electrical - ensure that the power substations and power lines are in working order, and perform maintenance if there is a problem.

• Inspections - perform inspections on the roadways, power lines, sewer, and water pipelines.

• Snow Plowing - It is the responsibility of BCPW to make sure the roads are clear of snow.
  Bus Operations - Maintain and operate the bus networks within Blaine County and surrounding counties utilizing BC Transit

• Road Work - Maintain and repair all of the roads within Majestic County.

• Traffic Control - directing traffic for closed roadways by the usage of signs and flaggers.

• Water & Sanitation Maintenance - maintain the water and sewage pipelines.

• Power & Electrical - ensure that the power substations and power lines are in working order, and perform maintenance if there is a problem.

• Inspections - perform inspections on the roadways, power lines, sewer, and water pipelines.

• Snow Plowing - It is the responsibility of MCPW to make sure the roads are clear of snow.

• Trash Pickup - pick up trash from the customers served by HOBO.

• Maintenance - inspect and maintain the trash trucks used by HOBO.

• New Customers - deliver dumpsters and trash cans to any new customers.

• Old Customers - pick up the dumpsters and trash cans from any old customer no longer served by us and deliver it to the depot.

• Operate Busses - LSDOT operates several bus lines within the city.

• Road Work - LSDOT performs road work on streets within the city to ensure they are safe for people to use.

• Crossing Guards - ensure that the young ones get to and from where they need to go safely in the role of a crossing guard.

• Traffic Control - ensure that traffic is flowing smoothly around construction sites by the use of flaggers and signage.

• Pothole Repair - perform any needed repairs on potholes located on the streets within the city.

• Snow Plowing - It is the responsibility of LSDOT to make sure the roads are clear of snow.

• Road Work - Maintain and repair all of the roads within Los Santos County.

• Traffic Control - directing traffic for closed roadways by the usage of signs and flaggers.

• Water & Sanitation Maintenance - maintain the water and sewage pipelines.
