Introduction to Public Works
Welcome to the Public Works Agency
The public works department manages more than 50,000 miles of highways, freeways, and city streets. We provide transit services such as the inter-city rail network, and bus services throughout the state. As well as we also provide services that help provide electricity, waste collection, and city sanitation as well as many more services that keep the state running in tip-top shape.
It's important to note that none of the public works agencies within the state are considered emergency responders such as law enforcement officials or fire department personnel. When it comes to interacting with emergency services while on the job, you are required to listen to them as they have the authority. However, if an emergency responder is trying to get past a blocked road that is actively under construction, then they do not have the authority to go past the barricades.
