Public Works & Private Contractors
The Differences Between Public Works Agencies & Private Contractors
There are several differences between Public Works Agencies and Private Contractors.
Public Works Agencies are agencies/departments that are managed/controlled by the city and/or state that they operate in, in order to fulfill the needs of the area they operate in.
Private Contractor construction companies are privately owned and operated in order to fulfill a specific set of needs such as home repair, parking lot repaving, driveway repaving, roof repair, etc.
The main difference between Public Works Agencies and Private Contractors is that Private Contractors can only operate on private land that they are contracted by the person/business to operate on whereas Public Works Agencies have a lot broader range of areas they can operate on such as government property, public roadways, etc depending on the tasks/responsibilities of the specific agency/department.
